Happy 5

Travis and I were married 5 years ago today! Last night Travis and I were talking about our most memorable and favorite moments over the years. We had fun reminiscing so I thought it would be fun to post our favorite memories. It's was also nice to be able to look back at our Corvallis Years (2004-2006) and be able to see the fun and the funny despite all the bad. Those were not the best years. But, we survived and we've had some great memories.

- August 2004
We adopted 2 little kitties, Sam and Andy. They were so cute and they kept me company while Travis was at school, which was all the time.

- September 2004
On our way to meet Travis' family for a camping trip in Portland we were in a car accident. Looking back, we are surprised we weren't injured. Swerving all over the freeway while traveling at highway speeds, hitting another car and slamming into the barrier that divides the north and south traffic should have caused us some injuries. The only serious casualty was our car, Gilbert. I still miss that car.

-November 2004
Travis' truck was stolen from our apartment complex parking lot. Also stolen were all of Travis' construction tools he used for work. A week later our truck was found in a town a little more than hour away. It was stripped to the bone; only the tires and one of the seats were left. Which was odd because the tires cost a lot of money. Sadly, there was a miss communication between me and my insurance company. We were reimbursed for the tools, but not the truck. In a way Travis lucked out and got brand new and better tools. But, we still owe money for the truck. It's really fun owing money on a car you haven't had for almost 5 years. This one still hurts.

-August 2005
My sister's kids came to Oregon for a visit and they were able to stay with us for a day or two. What fun!

-November 2005
I had, what my doctor thought was a tumor, removed from the inside of my lip. What made this story funny and memorable was that I had the surgery the day I saw the oral surgeon for my initial exam because he had a cancellation in his schedule. I couldn't get a hold of Travis to tell him what was going on so I suffered through the 45-minute procedure by myself. When the surgery was over the doctor looked at me and said, "If you don't like the way your lips looks when the swelling goes down I can fix the shape of your lip for you, I am also a plastic surgeon." That pretty much threw me into a panic. He didn't mention to me before the surgery that this procedure would alter the appearance of my lip. That information that would have been helpful. I think this doctor was a quack because he told me to come see him in 2 days for a check up and when I showed up 2 days later his secretary told me he left the previous day for his vacation; he'd be gone for 1 month. He never called to tell me my test results and I never had a follow up. During the next month or so, Travis got a lot of good laughs in while I was on pain medication and my lip was so swollen I could hardly talk. It was pretty funny. As for my lip; it still feels weird and I can tell that it doesn't look right, but no one else can.

-June 2006
Travis graduates from Oregon State and his engineering team won the national mini-baja competition.
We move to Everett, Washington to start a new job with Dassault Systems and Boeing.

-September 2006
We spent a week camping in the Olympic National Park. The moss was unbelievable and it was very rainy.

-December 2006
We find out the best news ever!

-June 2007
We spent 10-days camping in different parts of Canada. We saw so many bears we lost count and we were charged by an angry mother elk protecting her baby. I don't think I will go camping when I am 7-months pregnant ever again.

-July and August 2007
We move to Oregon City, Oregon for a new job, buy a house and have a baby. All within 30-days. That was a little much for me, but it all turned out OK.

-November 2007
My Granny died.

-May 2008
We removed the hideous tree/bush that came with the house and replaced it with much prettier things. Even our neighbors told us they were glad to see that tree go. Everyone hated it. Our new plants are much better and they are so much bigger now.

-August 2008
Shelby turned 1-year old. [poke poke] What a crack up.

-October 2008
Halloween is so much better when you have a child to dress up. We loved watching her run around barking like a dog.

-December 2008
We had snow, snow and more snow. Travis' parents have 8 greenhouses that we needed to prevent from collapsing underneath the weight of all the snow. The only way to do that is to knock the snow off the tops of the greenhouses while the snow is falling to prevent snow build-up. That meant a lot of 2 a.m. phone calls for snow duty.

-March 2009
We saw Wicked! It was the first time for Travis and the second time for me. Loved it!

-April 2009
I can't believe how fast the last 5 years have gone. I'm excited to see what the next 5 years will bring.
