Birthday Festivities
I had a really fun birthday. My mom and dad took Beth and I out to breakfast at this quaint french bistro in Lake Oswego. Afterward, Beth and I hung out at her place for a while and then did some shopping. In the afternoon we dropped Shelby off at our mom's for her nap. (Thanks Mom) Then we headed to OSMI to see the IMAX movie "The Wild Ocean" and to walk through the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit. The IMAX movie was OK, but not a favorite. The Da Vinci exhibit was very interesting. The exhibit displayed many of Da Vinci's drawings and some models of his inventions. The exhibit also included a lot of Da Vinci's paintings with a huge display dedicated to The Mona Lisa. We didn't get through the entire exhibit because little Shelbers didn't sleep as long we she should have and we went home to rescue my mom from babysitting duties. In the evening, Travis took to me dinner at the historic McMennamin's Edgefield in Troutdale. Edgefield is gorgeous. I didn't know Edgefield existed, so I was pleasantly surprised when we drove up to the 70+ acre farm. Edgefield was built in 1911 as a county farm, but at some point it was turned into a nursing home. The home shut down in the 1980's and was eventually purchased by the the McMennamin brothers who turned it into what it is today. Edgefield has hotels, a golf course, a movie theater, gardens, a spa and a brewery and distillery. Travis and I didn't have enough time to walk around and I really want to go back to explore the rest of the grounds. I also want to try playing golf on their par 3 course. This weekend is going to be nice, so we just might make it back this weekend!
