Travis and I had a great Thanksgiving Holiday. It took us 7 hours to get to Portland, which is normally a 3.5 hour drive. The traffic was unbelievable. The first 3 hours of our drive we drove for only 40 miles. It was crazy. After the 4th hour of driving Travis and I got really cranky, but we managed to deal with it and we still love each other. Once we made it to Oregon all was well. We ate Thanksgiving dinner with Aunt Nancy and Uncle Dex at their home in Oregon. Most of the Gray Family was there which was lots of fun.
Thanksgiving Day also turned out to be a bit of a downer as the Denver Broncos lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Lungreens all got together for the big game at my parents house, but since we lost it wasn't so much fun. But we had good food and treats to eat so it wasn't a total loss. On Friday, the Pedersens, the Scotts and a the Grays got together and took the kids to OMSI, a museum geared for children. The kids had a great time, but I think the adults were mostly glad that the day at the museum made the kids tired. On Saturday, we all went to the movies. We saw "Stranger Than Fiction" with Will Ferrell. Anything with Will Ferrell is funny to me, so I really enjoyed the show.
Travis and I left for Washington on Monday morning at 3 am. We were hoping that this tactic would allow us to avoid the traffic fiasco we encountered on Wednesday as we drove to Portland. We were right and the traffic wasn't very bad, but Washington had a snow storm on Sunday, which left the roads icy and full of snow. We saw about 5 or 6 accidents on the road; cars were upside down in ditches and semi trucks were all over the place. The drive was a little slow, but we made it to Everett in 4.5 hours. Not bad. Once we got home we realized that the 6 inches of snow that fell closed down everything. The schools have been closed all week and even our church was cancelled half way through the 2nd block on Sunday. Too bad we missed that, its always fun when church is cancelled....
It is snowing right now, which is making me extremely homesick for Colorado. It is also really cold too, which is something I am not used to. Oregon's temperature would drop to maybe 35 degrees on the cold days, but here in Everett its 25 degrees. That is really cold, especially with all this moisture in the air. Brrr. Makes me remember the winter in Logan, Utah when it was negative 30 every day for about a month. That was COLD.
I will post pictures as soon as my computer decides to work.
